I am a strong man, both in physical prowess and strength of will. I stand tall (6'2) and proud, and take what the world throws at me with a stoic determination to overcome. And yet...there are sirens that prowl amongst us. They hide in plain sight, in coffee shops and Target stores and Home Goods aisles. Once I see them, I am powerless to resist. First, the visual. The SUV. The yoga pants. The messy bun. The Stanley cup. I try to avert my eyes, but they are drawn back, against my will. Then, the sounds. The talk of soccer games, of true crime podcasts. My earns burn to hear her laugh. The rattle of a purse with too much stuff in it. The click of a Chapstick cap.
I am drawn to it. My heart races. I try to fight, but the sirens win every time. And, despite my defeat, I never mind all that much.
If you are one of these basic woman sirens, message me. I want to make you laugh. Tell me about Taylor Swift and PTO and whatever gory documentary you watched about murder in a small town. I'm here for it. I am powerless not to be.
