Okā¦so Iām rereading the LoTR trilogy for the first time since I was 17. But Iāve watched the movies a dozen times each since they came out. Did anyone else mix so much of the movie with the book in their memories?! I was really struggling to remember Sarumanās colorful coat. Or like how it took the hobbits almost all of the first damned book to get out of the shire lol
Likeā¦before I read the books I had watched the old movies from the 70ās, the animated ones (OG Hobbit for 5/5 āļø rating) and then read the books in the 90s when I was a teenager. The Peter Jackson movies were astounding! I remember going to see them for my birthday those years because they came out on or within a few days of it.
But rereading them now, after so many years has been somewhat frustrating because Iām so conditioned to the movies the books almost feel wrong. Anyway, I just read where Gollum is cast into Mt. Doom and Sam and Frodo are now saying goodbye to one another as the volcano erupts and destroys itself.
I love these high epic fantasies. I miss the stuff when thirty plus years ago like The Dark Crystal, The Never Ending Story and such. I feel like the last great fantasy epic made was probably Pans Labyrinth but I could be mistaken and would welcome suggestions.
Iāve got five kids, the older three are grown and moved outā¦well one is home from college right now for Christmas which is nice. Sheās my mini me in most respects so I have a buddy to hang out with again. My youngest two are still in high school. So over the past twenty years Iāve been held hostage to Frozen, Tangled, other alike Disney stuff. Iād take The Princess Bride over Mother Gothal singing another damned song any day! lol
If you were betting, who would win in a sword fight, Madmartigan or Jaime Lannister?
