All Because I Said "Your" Instead of "Our"?
Post Body

Just venting.

Backstory: wife has been growing vegetables in our backyard. I've been hesitant to use what she grows in my cooking, didn't want to just grab vegetation without asking. So often when I plan my grocery shopping, I forget and put vegetables on my list, rather than picking what she has grown. But in my defense, she doesn't tend to her vegetables or harvest very often, either.

Today:

I bought a red bell pepper today, with the intent on using it in my cooking for this upcoming week. Wife sees it in the kitchen vegetable basket, and asks me if I planned on using it. Thinking she might have wanted it, I said, "I was planning to use it for jambalaya, but if you want it you can have it." She responds with "No, it's just that we have some green bell peppers in the backyard."

I say, "You're right... I forgot when I was at the store... but also, for my jambalaya, I just wanted a red bell pepper to make it pretty... but since it will be a big batch, I can use one of your peppers as well."

Her: "They're not 'my' peppers.

Me: (confused, didn't hear her very well) "They're not what?"

Her: They're not MY peppers, they're OUR peppers. They're not just for me, they're for the whole house" and storms off.

Me: "I just said yours because you grew them."

Her: -silence-

Me: 🤷🏿‍♂️

I fucked up AGAIN all becauae I referred to the peppers as "hers"!?!?!?!?

Now I'm triggered and angry and sad, on the couch, trying not to give into my feelings.

TL:DR - Wife caught an attitude with me after I said "your peppers" instead of "our peppers".
