I'm a 48M happily married from down under. Is it just Australia, or do blokes often semi-jokingly suggest plans to "get away from the MRS"?
For example, a few dads I know were planning to go to a football game for a day, and so many of them made comments like this. I've heard it often in similar situations.
I find this really weird. My work means I haven't always had enough time at home. So, to me getting away from my wife is the LAST thing I want to do. I mean, we are supposed to love them right?.
So guess I'm wondering. Is this just an Aussie thing? Is this harmless or toxic?
I think as much as we like we spending time together we do enjoy and do need time apart. We both enjoy going out with just our friends, there’s nothing wrong with that. So I’m not bothered in the least if she says she needs a girls night out. I’m sure It would hit different if she said she needed a night out specifically to get away from me though.
