My husband is a kind, thoughtful, and unbelievably caring person. That said, he is almost entirely incapable of planning anything, and I have been deemed the "Director of Operations" in this marriage (literally, he bought me a robe with that embroidered on it for our cotton anniversary.)
After our trip to China was canceled, the entire process was a nightmare. We haven't been away in a while and I just did not have the mental capacity to plan anything. I gave him a budget and told him to just plan an affordable 3 or 4-day getaway. I don't care where, don't care when, I just don't want to be involved in any capacity.
This guy. He booked us a stay at the CHEESIEST couples resort I have ever seen in my entire life... and it was amazing. We had a literal heart-shaped pool in our suite as well as a 7-ft-tall champagne glass-shaped jacuzzi. Every minute of this trip was so romantic, he also had champagne delivered to us, booked us a couples massage, and reserved dinners at a couple of very formal restaurants (since there was no way we were going to eat the trash at this resort). We laughed at the off-the-charts tackiness and enjoyed every minute together. I just feel so loved right now.
I highly suggest a quick quiet getaway for anyone who needs to reconnect. We have a great marriage, but having that romantic time away with each other even for just a few days was rejuvenating—I've never felt so in love with this man. I cannot overstate the positive impact some time away together can have on a marriage.
Sorry for the weird braggy post, I don't like to put this stuff on social media because I find it cringy, but I just really wanted to share.
Also, we won these sick medals during happy-hour trivia.
