Proposed to by potential Thai wife
Post Body

Good morning my Marriage and Legal Brain Trust. I’ve been proposed to. I’m from Los Angeles. Quick backstory: I first met her 8 years ago and went on two dates. She was visiting from Thailand. She went back to Thailand and we lost touch. Fast forward to Dec 20, I saw her post on Snapchat and said Merry Christmas, she responded and said that she was in LA. That same night, we met up in Hollywood and had drinks until 12:30am. The next day I called in sick and went and spent the day with her in Venice Beach. I left for Georgia that night. She flew back to Chicago on the 27th. She’s currently on a temp visa and is curating a popup Thai cultural school (cooking and language) with plans to expand to as many metropolitan areas as possible. Her parents have been supporting her for 1.5 years but have changed their tune and want her to come back to Thailand. She mentioned to me that she might have to move back to Thailand. I joked around saying that if you marry a US citizen you can get permanent residency (I didn’t say me). We eventually got to talking and came up with the idea that we could get married. I’ve told her about my entire financial and familial situation (moving into my family house with my elderly mother who is struggling mentally, is good with her, over 33% of traditional Thai families have grandparents living with them anyways, much like Korea). She wants to expand her company to LA as soon as possible. She has enough freedom to fly out to LA when she has free time and I could fly out to Chicago when I have time. Thoughts?
