Thoughts on Scarcity and Property?
Post Body

Recently, I keep running into what I've labeled the "scarcity theory of property" and it seems to have taken over /r/Anarcho_Capitalism in the last 6 months. More broadly speaking, some of the more common perspectives on the relationship between scarcity and property are:

  • Human actions (labor, trade) are the source of property. In order to legitimize justification of monopolizing scarce, one must act in a meaningful manner.
  • The scarcer the resource, the more contestable any monopolization of that resource is.
  • Scarcity is the only basis of property, and the requirement for the monopolization of any property.

This question is for everyone who doesn't identify with the "scarcity = property."

Question What are your thoughts on the claim "scarcity is the basis of, and necessary requirement of property."
