Anybody here know how to make a compact don't-look-right mechanism?

I'm trying to make a consistent mechanism that detects if Mario faces right but only when he's to the right of it. (I want to make a level that you have to play by jumping backwards.).

The best I made so far has 9 entities and takes up 6x9, anyone here know a way to do it better?
