Newbie here, but when I look at the 16 week training programs, the longest mile days fluctuate up and down. Yes it mostly goes up, but what's the point in it going down?
Like 15, 8, 17, 10, 19, 10, 20, 10, 23, 12, 6, race. Do all those 10's have a reason?
Is it bad to change those distances to 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 12, 6, race?
Especially when I see people say the last 6.2 is the hardest part of the race, I look at the standard 16 week training, and think well duh, you've only done 5 runs over 10 miles. And never once have done 26.2.
Is it all for injury prevention or is there something else there?
