Brainwashed by ass? Take a break and read some F A C T S!

Requested by u/Foreign-Biscotti-362, today's featured creature is THE FASTEST THING ALIVE also a popular pet. Today we're talking about SANIC hedehogs (Erinaceinae)!

Native throughout Eurasia and Africa (and formerly North America), hedehogs are small, spiky little mammmals. Unlike a porcupine, their little spines are firmly attached to their hide (although they will be replaced as the animal grows, like your teeth). When the critter feels threatened, it can roll up into a defensive ball, with the spines facing the threat. While not venemous or barbed, these spines still make would-be predators think twice~

Being omnivorous, hedgehogs will eat arthropods, frogs, berries, snakes (they have some immunity to snake venom, though a viper is still deadly), mushrooms, lizards, and bird eggs, among other things.

Despite their cute looks, it's not all good news here. Hedehogs have been introduced to some places where the have no natural predators, allowing then to decimate local wildlife populations. This can be especially problematic on islands, such as New Zealand and the U.K, which are more vulnerable to invasive species and threats in general.
