Why would you play a Battle Mage?

Alright so hopefully I offended a couple of you enough for click bait. Anyways, this isn't a why would you play that garbage class question, this is a I know literally nothing about them and would like to know pros and cons from seasoned BaM players. I've heard their tons of fun and have a unique combat style, so I was intrigued. All answers are more than appreciated, hope everyone's having a great night! Edit: grammar
