Is "weaving" attacks more dps?

I'm a new player playing assassin and I noticed you can alternate skills so they go off during other skills, for example using shadow cutter and during the cast use lucky stars.
However, if I just hold down shadow cutter, it seems to cast faster than if alternating.
My question is: Is it better to just hold down shadow cutter (as an example skill) so it casts faster, or to alternate?
