As a player of Maplestory for about 4 or 5 years.... What the hell is this.. Maplestory 2, and why have I not heard of it?

I accidentally went to Nexon.com, which seems to be the Korean site, and I saw that they have a huge list of games that the Americas DON'T. One of those, being MS2.

My questions are:

• What is the plot compared to the original?

• Does the story of MS2 connect to the original, or expand upon it?

• Why the hell is this the art direction they're taking????

• I want to play, and is there an English version, because it's hard to even sign up on the Korean website.

• I am massively confused and feel like I was lied to in a way o.o
