Self teaching myself stick on a 2000 ram 2500(gas) that I got 2 days ago. So far my skills have improved but my biggest struggle and fear that is holding me back is that first shift into 1st from a dead stop, say at an intersection or leaving a parking spot. So far I’ve stalled it at that point 5 times and most of those shifts are incredibly jerky but some have been smooth. I’m really struggling to understand the amount of gas I need as I seem to be adding to much to quickly. Today I practiced for a bit just letting off the clutch until the truck started moving without gas in 1st to see where the bite point is which helped a little. My 1st to 2nd shift and so on have been pretty smooth now atleast, but with me struggling with that initial shift so much I’ve straight up avoided busy intersections and left hand turn lanes whenever possible to avoid stalling at bad times. Any good tips or tricks that may be specific to what I’m driving? I’ve heard new cars are way more forgiving. Thanks!
