I realized that being naked with other men, in a non-sexual context, plays a huge role in my most meaningful friendships. This probably stems from early experiences, like visiting the YMCA with my grandfather, where nudity among men fostered camaraderie, trust, and a sense of equality. As an adult, places like the Russian Turkish baths in NYC reinforced this, allowing me to bond with other men in a raw, authentic way.
I know not everyone’s into this, and that’s fine. But for me, being able to be naked around my close friends is a big part of connecting on a deeper level. It’s not about anything sexual—it’s about being comfortable and honest. If I could find a best friend to live with who’s cool with being naked at home, I’d feel totally complete with that friendship. Of course, I’d respect someone’s boundaries if they’re not into it, but having that openness would mean a lot to me.
Compatibility is key. While I’d love to find a roommate who’s also comfortable being naked at home, I understand that not everyone is into that. If a friendship is truly amazing, I’d consider compromising, but the truth is, a shared comfort with nudity could outweigh other differences. It’s about finding that balance between personal values and mutual respect.
There’s a lot of talk on Reddit about whether nudity is necessary for a solid bromance. Some guys think it’s key, while others are like, “Why are you so obsessed with being naked? Let’s just have a beer.” Yeah, I’d love it if society was more open to nudity. But I also get that not everyone’s there yet.
At the end of the day, it’s all about finding friends who align with what’s important to you. Whether that includes being naked together or not, the key is finding that real connection.
