The Mandela Effect is a phenomenon in which the minority of the public will retain memories of past events that have been altered from the majority and the majority will have no memory or history of the alteration despite evidence in the form of video, print, merchandise (etc) existing that support the minority's claim.

The name of the effect refers to people remembering Nelson Mandela tragic death in prison in the 1980s, when he actually survived long after his release.

In my early life, pre-2003, I remember Animal Planet having a segment called "Alpha Mail". It even had a jingle to it that I remember to this day. But looking for it on Google and YouTube brought back no results that it existed
