Transfer List for the 2023-24 season
Post Body

The players that need to be brought into the squad, and those that need to be offloaded, has been a hot topic for eternity it seems, so I decided to come up with a list of players that Manchester United should sign for the next season, in order to be able to mount a serious challenge for the Premier League and Champions League (provided that we get there of course). Let me know if you all concur with my choices, or not.

-> Giorgi Mamardashvili - The team will need a goalkeeper that aligns better with Ten Hag's style, and seeing as how he is good with the ball at his feet, likes to venture forward (which will allow the defenders to maintain a high line as well), and has excellent distribution upfield, he should be treated as a priority. Although if he seems unattainable for some reason, due to competition from other clubs, or high costs, I think Emi Martínez from Aston Villa will be a good choice. De Gea can be the No. 2.

-> Jeremie Frimpong - He is a quality right back, and will be a perfect addition to the team. AWB and Dalot will provide competition to Frimpong as well, for a place in the starting lineup. He has been great in the Bundesliga, which is the league I follow primarily.

-> Kim Min Jae - Since it is clear that Licha is out for the rest of the season and is prone to missing the start of the next season too (metatarsal injuries can take a long time to heal), in addition to Varane being injury prone despite his quality, the team needs a centre-back that can advance high up the field and make incisive passes while being able to track back in response to changeover of possession. He has been quite the hard worker at Napoli, and will fit in well at Man U as well.

-> Moisés Caicedo - He is a hard tackler, and is relentless in attack and defence, which is why he is going to be invaluable in the middle of the park. I personally am not on board with the potential signings of Jude Bellingham (very costly, and lacks composure in big moments) or Declan Rice (has been out of form for too long), and Caicedo seems like the next big thing in central midfield.

-> Florian Wirtz - While Bruno Fernandes should absolutely continue being a starter going forward, even his playing time needs to be managed so that he can recharge more often, and Florian is a young upstart who seems to have all of Bruno's technical skills. He has been doing great in the Bundesliga as well.

-> Victor Osimhen - I realize that a lot of people prefer having Harry Kane in the team instead in the same position, but his playing style simply doesn't align with what Ten Hag seems to want to implement at United. His presence will only lead to an overload in the midfield since he tends to drop deep to make passes forward, which will interfere with the plays of players like Bruno or Eriksen or anyone else. Osimhen, on the other hand, is the perfect man to have in the centre of the attack, he is awesome in the air which makes him a good target man, he can press relentlessly and his finishing is more clinical than anyone one might think of. He needs to be a priority.

Special mentions:

- Sign Sabitzer to permanent deal.

- Loan out/sell Sancho

- Sell McTominay, Lindelof (maybe loan, or sub), Maguire etc., use Bailly as sub

- Fred as a sub/occasional starter

- Loan out/sell Martial

- Send Weghorst back to Burnley

- Pellistri, Garnacho to be groomed as future starters

Feel free to agree or disagree with my list, or to make any changes or additions, as I seek to find out what other fans of the club have to say. GGMU!
