Looking for a nice lodge or cabin on the slope. Any suggestions?

I want to plan a trip to Mammoth Mountain for xmas this year with about 10 people.

none of us are avid skiiers but we also want to be right on the mountain so if we do go, we can just go at our leisure and not have to get there super early.

I've never been to mammoth so I don't really have any context for the area.

But does anyone have any suggestions? We prefer nicer places so if it's more expensive that's fine.
