Kamiya M645 - Shutter Curtain not Firing; Mirror issue
Post Body

update Curtain seems to be opening.... 1 out of every 15-20 exposures. So maybe it's mechanical error...

MamiyaRepair came back and said it's not worth the work to repair. Seller's dipped out on me.

Whelp; I bought a Mamiya m645 with a standard eye level prism (non electric) off of OfferUp that someone was selling as their second body. It was pouring down rain so I didn’t get a chance to look too closely, but once I got home and put a battery in I realize I might have been duped.

  • Battery terminal is clean, connectors look in good shape. Battery test came back fine (used a 6V Duracell 28A (I’m hearing I should try a 28L?)

-Mirror fires when shutter is pressed but the curtain doesn’t open regardless of the speed. Pulled off lens, prism, and 120 reel out. Set to multi exposure and fired at every speed. Mirror is flipping at same speed regardless of what shutter speed is selected. Curtain still not letting any light through from what I can tell, but it is moving somehow, because when I go to wind for the next shot I can see it moving. (Noob here so it might do this regardless)

-Happened to fire one shot while the camera was at an angle in my hand and the mirror did flip up for the 2 second exposure time it was set to. Can’t tell if this is mechanical or electrical.

I did send an email out to MamiyaRepair / Bill Rogers to see if this might be worth salvaging still.

Anyone got any insight on this?
