I have a year old Maltipoo. He had never struggled with tear stains until a few months ago - I went on vacation and he stayed behind with a friend. When I came back he had really bad tear stains.

I took him to the vet and they said he was probably anxious and sad I wasn’t with him. It has now been 2 months and the tear stains aren’t going away.

I’ve always used filtered water and avoid plastic bowls. I switch him off between Merrick’s beef and brown rice recipe and blue buffalo chicken and brown rice recipe because he is a picky eater and gets bored with one kind of food. I also clean his tear stains twice a day with Arava tear stain cleaner.

I am wondering if his food or certain treats are causing the tear stains.
