Hi all, I know this subreddit is typically filled with cute pictures and less about the negatives of owning a maltipoo. But excuse me while I go on a little rant and also ask for some advice/insight

I have a consistent work schedule (Tuesday-Thursday) and I’m gone for about the same amount of time. My dog cannot be by himself. He cries the entire time!!!!!!! I come back home and he is completely damp from crying or from playing with his water. He poops wherever he likes too, and he NEVER does this when I’m home. I started confining him to the bathroom since he tore my bedroom carpet. Even when I’m in the kitchen for 10 minutes!!! He can’t function by himself. He’s currently crying in his crate while I write this even though he can see me and I’m maybe 15 ft away.

I don’t know what to do and I’m at my wits end tbh. Should I focus on crate training him even overnight?? If so, what worked for you?? I wanted to give him more room so he could roam as he pleases but that seems to frighten him even more. I signed him up for a training class and we start tomorrow evening. I’m not sure if that’ll be of much help but I want to give him a distraction.

If someone had told me about how clingy and needy maltipoos are, I would’ve never gotten the dog in the first place. I got a dog to ADD to my quality of life, not take away from it. I love him so so much but I am honestly frustrated.

If you are considering getting this dog, I strongly advice that you have a plan for if they have separation anxiety. I also suggest crate training from day 1!!!! The initial discomfort will trump the long term consequences.

Please help!! Anyone!
