Cushings Disease
Post Body

Hello,

My soon to be 11 year old girl was diagnosed with Cushings Disease about 2 years ago, along side Hypothyroidism. She’s been on Vetoryl since. In the last year or so walking her has become a huge chore. She freezes and tenses, at first I thought it was behavioural but it’s been such a long time, and no matter where we are at, she just doesn’t seem to want to walk much. It has got to the point where to give her some exercise I am having to hold her and do half of the walking route with her in my arms, then she will walk as she knows we are going back home, so rushes with her tail sometimes down, eager to get back home. More recently, she is having peeing incidents at home, about 4 in the last month or so. I believe both developments are as a result of her condition, but my Vet has yet to provide information and advice. She seems fine otherwise, although a tad more quieter at home than she used to be but the change isn’t as extreme as she has always fluctuated in her personality and activity inside. I have never come across a Maltese with Cushings and really only know of one other dog in my circle with it. Any owners here with a Maltese with cushings? Could you share your experiences, or provide some advice? Thank you so much.
