This happened 8-9 years ago, but I just discovered this sub and thought I would share it here.
I took pilot training at a flight school that was integrated with a large university. It was a 2-year program. For the first year, everything was cool and we were treated like paying customers (which we were). In the second year there was a change in management, and the flight school started coming out with a ridiculous dress code policy. We were now required to wear a shirt and tie whenever we are on campus, no matter what the reason. We had to take non-aviation classes as well, so we were stuck wearing shirts and ties to English classes with normal students who were wearing hoodies and sweatpants. One of my classmates worked at the climbing wall in the university and they made him put on a shirt and tie just to walk through the hallways on his way to work. A student was written up for a crease on his shirt. We were all pretty pissed off, as we were spending large amounts of money and were being treated like children.
Time for some malicious compliance.
The student manual stated that when wearing a dress shirt, the "top button must be done up at all times". The top button. Not all buttons. Did it ever feel great to walk in to class with my top button smartly fastened, and the rest of the optional buttons blowing in the breeze of my confident stride.
Bonus: I also exploited a poorly written bit about "polishable" shoes. Nothing about actually polishing them.
tl;dr - Student is asked to wear a shirt and tie on campus. It is specified that the top botton must be done up. Student shows up to class wearing only the top button done up.
