My company went through a bankruptcy last year and is in the process of being bought by another company. A part of this process is auditing our projects and expenses and trying to cut costs. The training group has requested that, when we report our time, that we report specifically which training modules we do. They each have a number attached to them. They say it's for "data collection" but everyone hears "covering our asses for an audit, so stop abusing our charge number". Most people are pissed because this adds another layer of complexity and a lot of time when doing our timesheets and is in general very irritating.
Summer is slow and a great time to knock out training. I had a few slow days in the past few weeks and did about 20 modules. When reporting time, typically we round up to the hour or half hour for simplicity. But no, not I. I took 27 minutes to read a procedure? You bet I am gonna account for 27 minutes. 13 minute PowerPoint? Covered.
Each time I report a training module it has to have its own line item. My timesheets have been 10-20 line items long. I've incremented it to the minute.... But add ~3 minutes to each one to account for the one hour I now have to spend doing my time sheet.
