So this is super late, but I remember the cops arguing that that recorded confession was NOT the first time they had talked to brendan and gotten info from him.
So they could argue that they were talking about it because brendan had already discussed it with them. They used this excuse to wave off accusations of feeding info.
Theyre full of shit, probably.
