Post Body

  • Product: Dear Dahlia Tea Party - eye shadow palette with warm pink/peach/gold/brown shimmers
  • Price: $62USD
  • Why do I want this? The appearance on the models is almost exactly what I'm looking for. I finally admitted that panning unflattering shades from 10 year old palettes from when I was a makeup noob wasn't necessary (but I'm still sad that lavender makes me look like I died a few days ago). If this were actually as good as it looks, it would be a good replacement for what I've gotten rid of, but...
  • Comparable items: Unfortunately, Naked 3.
  • Have I tested this out in person? No, I'm not sure it's possible to sample in America, but even if it were, I'm not going out or testing products due to Covid.
  • What is making me create a TMO? I know deep down that the lukewarm reviews are true, that it's too pale for me, and that advertising isn't real, but I keep being pulled back to it. I need moral support to decide once and for all that it won't work for me.
    • Reviews consistently say that it's barely pigmented. For $62, the pigmentation needs to be popping. I'm not going for an invisible look.
    • As I said before, I think it's going to be similar to Naked 3, although this palette is a little warmer. Not only do I already own that, it doesn't work for me. The colors I like most in the pans either look chalky because they're too pale for me or they just disappear into my skin. I can tell this will be the same way.
    • Because I'm updating my makeup to work with my skin tone and wardrobe, I'm not against buying another palette, but what I don't want, and what goes against the spirit of this sub, is to end up buying 10 mediocre palettes because of advertising. I need to admit that the fantasy of this look won't be the reality on my skin.
