I know and plan to go a little crazy on a haul. What plans and limitations should I put around it?

So in about a week I'm going to California to visit my best friend! I live in Quebec so this is a trip I only go on once a year. The only problem(?) in going to the US is the makeup.

He lives by an Ulta which I've never been to before (never got around to going on other trips and I grew up in the states but didn't get into makeup until I was an adult). In preparation I've put myself on a makeup no buy for nearly two months and it's gone very well! I've used up a lot and really feel a healthier connection to makeup.

I know and want to go on a bit of a spree when I'm there. There's a lot of things in the US which I can't get or are ridiculously overpriced in Canada. But I also want to stick to my makeup rehab journey.

I don't want to go in with a shopping list or anything like that. What should I do instead? Make a budget? Plan a no buy immediately after my trip? Decide how many of each product I should get?

Luckily(?) I'm also semi limited since I'm only bringing a backpack and carryon but since I'm pretty minimalist in every other section in my life but makeup it won't make a huge difference. But I won't be able to bring/buy big bottles of liquids like setting spray or anything.

Any guidance is appreciated!
