Battle of the Brush Racks
Post Body

I was randomly thinking abut the brush cleaning process, and that got me thinking even more. Most of us know that it's best to store makeup brushes upside down when air drying, but I haven't really found the perfect solution for me.

I compiled most of what I found here to avoid direct links to products. See below:

  • There's the hair tie "hack," but undoing and redoing all those little hair ties seems tedious. I might not always have hair ties available, anyway,
  • There is a product called the Brush Bar, but some reviews say that the clips won't hold your smaller eye brushes.
  • I saw a few other "bar" style racks here and there, but couldn't find the source.
  • One girl cut slits in a pool noodle to hold her brushes, which actually has potential.
  • I like the spring-loaded idea of a mop and broom rack, where both halves of each clip are touching until you clip something in. But I'd obviously need something sized for makeup brushes. Not sure if that exists.

Part of me wonders if I should just get a magnetic strip and glue it to a wall. Voila, upside down makeup brush holder.

A few things to note:

  • I'm not a fan of "brush tree" style storage, as those take up a lot of space.
  • I'm also not a fan of the StylPro, that spinning fishbowl brush cleaner. It needs batteries and splays the bristles. I've also read that it's cheaper and just as effective to use a silicone brush mat and soap and water.
  • One girl made a DIY hanger using toe separators, but it seems like there would be better options out there.

So what do you all use to store your brushes upside down so they can air dry after washing them?
