Okay, so as an early birthday present, my roommate was nice enough to get me Too Faced Shadow Insurance. My usual primer is N.Y.X. Glitter Primer, and Too Faced is my first high-end shadow primer.
The reason she decided to give me my gift early, is because my birthday party is on Sunday, and she wanted me to have time to try it out and get a feel for the formulation.
So I tried it out on my hand. I know it's not the same, but I was curious. It's a bit silkier than NYX, and the consistency is a little thinner, but not in a bad way. It's just slightly less . . . goopy? So I spread it around on my hand, and noticed that it didn't get tacky. When I use NYX, I blend it out with a brush until I feel it get sticky and start to pull or drag. I didn't get that with Too Faced. So how does it "grab" the shadow?
Later today, I'm going to play around with it and see how it performs. I have a Moondust and Electric palette I want to try out with the Too Faced primer. I'm hopeful, though, because the Ulta reviews are pretty stellar. For reference, I have oily skin all over.
For me, the trickiest part to using NYX has been putting just the right amount. If I don't put enough, it can't grab the shadow. If I apply too much, it's too wet, and the shadow just slides off and fades. I'm thinking it could be similar with Too Faced. Is there anything else I need to know? Are there any tips or tricks that are useful? What has been your experience with it?
Thanks everyone! Gotta look red carpet perfect for my big day!
