I love my powerful concealer, but it's about a shade too dark. What is a comparable product?
Post Body

Okay, so I'm a serious concealer user. I have almost no acne, and my skin is pretty smooth. But I am chronically ill and have some other nagging skin issues like severe undereye circles, all over blotchiness and uneven skin tone, old acne scars, etc. So I need a heavy-hitter. I tend to use concealer all over, because the problem areas are all over. I cover small sections at a time with as little product as possible until I'm all covered up. I avoid globbing it on, but I also look airbrushed if that makes sense.

Anyway, I have super sensitive, super pale, neutral undertone skin, and I'm on a budget so tight it squeaks. To give you an idea, I use L'Oreal True Match foundation in n1, and it seems to be a good match without giving me hives.

The concealer I use is Physician's Formula Conceal Rx Physician's Strength Concealer in Fair/Light, and I've noticed my face looks a tad . . . off once I have applied it. It almost looks like I've used bronzer or something, because it's slightly darker. It's passable, but I can tell. It's not because of my application technique, because I've used other shades in other brands before without this issue. (I had to stop using them, though, because they gave me hives.) But Fair/Light is the lightest shade, so I can't get anything lighter for this concealer.

Anyway, I know it's a tall order, but could anyone out there recommend a comparable product that is about a shade lighter? Here is what my current concealer offers:

  • Higher coverage
  • Longer-lasting (stays on longer, doesn't oxidize, etc.)
  • Budget-friendly price ($8 to $9 or so)
  • Doesn't cause hives or irritation
  • Is notoriously light (but not quite light enough for me)

Edit: I have tried these other concealers:

  1. Kat Von D's tattoo concealer (This line used to have a super light shade. But it's not in my budget and it made me look chalky/gothic.)
  2. Cover Girl concealers - I tried this one and another one. They oxidize on me, and the staying power is not that great. Also, Cover Girl gives me hives.
  3. L'Oreal True Match concealer - it gives me itchy hives
  4. Mary Kay signature concealer - I loved this concealer, but they stopped making it. It's also expensive, and their latest concealer is not that great. Their skin makeup also tends to run very yellow on me.
  5. Maybelline Great Wear concealer - This was my jam all throughout high school. But it's discontinued. Also, it probably gave me hives before I knew I had them.
  6. CoverBlend - akin to DermaBlend. Pretty dark, pretty expensive, and hard to use.

Also please note - no stick concealers or mineral makeup formulas.

Sorry this was so long, and thanks!!
