in a recent Reddit thread, the conversation steered toward the lack of foundation options for those with darker skin tones. It is a sensitive issue for a lot of people, so it did get dicey, but the thread, I think, did reveal some valuable information. While pale people have a time finding matching shades, it's even worse for dark-skinned people, Regardless of why it's issue, it shouldn't be an issue. Everyone deserves to have access to makeup products that match their skin tone.
In the thread, I also mentioned that I remembered reading a magazine article about this very issue, and promised to upload it. And that's what I did.
In the January 2015 edition of Cosmopolitan magazine, there was an article called "It's 2016 . . .Where's my Foundation?"
Luckily, I found the entire article online, so I don't have to try and photograph the pages and upload them.
With that said, the online article doesn't include the little center insert, so I have uploaded pictures of that. I couldn't figure out how to add individual captions, so here is a description in order:
* The top image shows what the entire article looks like as it appears in the magazine.
* The center image shows the text that goes with the center insert. It is a list of foundation products that offer darker shades.
* The bottom image shows the different foundation swatches that appear in the center insert.
In case you can't see the text from the center insert, it is as follows:
1. MAC Studio Waterweight SPF 30 Foundation in NC45, $33, maccosmetics.com
2. BLACK UP Sublime Powder in NPS03, $37.50, blackupcosmetics.com
3. CHANEL Perfection Lumiere in 114 Ambre, $58, chanel.com
4. ESTEE LAUDER Double Wear All-day Glow BB Moisture Makeup SPF 30 in Intensity 6.0, $38, esteelauder.com
5. YVES SAINT LAURENT Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation in B90, $58, yslbeauty.com
6. COVERGIRL Queen Collection CC Cream in Golden Honey, $8.99, drugstores
7. DOLCE & GABBANA The Lift Foundation in Soft Sable, $73, saks.com
8. COVER FX Total Cover Cream Foundation N120, $42, coverfx.com
9. LANCOME Teint Idole Ultra 24H in 560, $46.50, lancome-usa.com
Please note, though, that the BB moisture makeup and the CC cream might have a more sheer coverage isn't as long-wearing.
Hope this helps someone. Since this is a sensitive issue, I hope I used all the politically correct terms and didn't offend anyone. :)
