So I love doing my makeup, and after lurking here for a bit, I'm getting even better at it, but even though I've tried, I just don't understand how you can do makeup that doesn't look like makeup and it's really frustrating me.
My BF has never been a fan of makeup on girls. No, he's not one of those "Makeup is a lie" guys. He's just always preferred the type of look like "I'm ready to throw my hair in a pony tail and get dirty", which doesn't lend to makeup. However I have rosecea and am fairly self conscious about it and he completely supports anything that makes me feel better about myself.
That said, I know his preference, and while it's never been something I was interested in learning before, I would like to be able to do that "no makeup" look for him with feeling like my cheeks are flashing neon signs. Honestly, the whole of it is still pretty abstract and lost on me.
And before anyone says it, I know that doing my makeup should be about what makes me happy, but BF is so sweet and encouraging about it and I want to do something to show I am taking his likes into consideration, even if I only do it on days I'm not leaving the house. Just the fact that I tried will make him happy.
So yeah, if someone can explain how this magic works, maybe offer some tips and tricks? Or better yet, offer something to absolutely avoid. haha :)
TLDR: I tried doing "no makeup" makeup and ended up looking like a porcelain doll. help?
