Here comes a long post.
So I am searching for a foundation that is pale enough for me (I am like 1/2 a shade above white) but also has good coverage. I thought I found it in Estee Lauder Double Wear in 0N1. The shade match was perfect, and the coverage was decent. But when I blend it out with a beauty blender, I end up with weird, patchy . . . almost bald patches that cling in a really inconsistent way. I've tried it with and without primer, with and without moisturizer, with and without sunscreen, with and without certain skin care products, letting these products absorb first, blending it more, blending it less, everything, and nothing helps. I still get the weird bald patches. Maybe ELDW just doesn't like my oily skin? Either way, that issue meant that I couldn't justify the $48 price tag (plus shipping!), and I had to search for a new foundation.
So I went online and did some research. I can't remember the name of the foundation I went with - some kind of 30-hour drugstore one? Their lightest shade looked pretty light online, and one reviewer even talked about it being too pale for her. But when I got it in the mail, it was way too dark.
So what I'm going to have to do is mix the 30-hour foundation with a white foundation. I have Manic Panic Dreamtone at home for just such an occasion.
But where do I get a little . . . surface? a little palette? to mix them together on? The few times I used my Dreamtone before, I just used the lid of my loose powder. But now it's all caked up and dried on there, and it's just a big mess. I was also using the plastic end of a makeup brush to stir it, but I don't necessarily want to muck up one of my makeup brushes. It would just make my life easier if I had a mixing palette.
So I guess what I need is called a mixing palette and a mixing spatula? I am just not sure where to get one. Sephora and Sally Beauty do not have one. Ulta has this, but it has 3 brushes I don't need, and it's kind of expensive.
Any suggestions?
*IMPORTANT NOTE:* There is nothing wrong with being any skin tone at all, and I am in no way suggesting otherwise! Being any degree of pale is great, being tan is great, having a deeper skin tone is great - all skin tones are beautiful! One skin tone is not better than the others! Hope my wording did not suggest otherwise!
Thanks!
