I like to wear makeup on occasion but it ages me

I usually don’t wear makeup. On occasion I want to dress up or get a wild hair and decide to wear it. When I do wear makeup I go for a more natural look. I went to one of the makeup counters and they suggested a compact powder. I have been using that. I’m 50. I find when I do the powder, t settles into my fine lines, looks cakey and ages me considerably. Is there a better product for me? . I welcome any suggestions.
