I don't have many close friends, at the same time I'm really stressed about my career and adulting in general. Hope I might find some people whos in or been in similar position as me.
I currently work in IT Operations. Doing backend stuff, creating automation tools, maintaining servers and software, system upgrades, deployments, occasional troubleshoots etc. The place I work at isn't very great, pays below industry standards, but super stable. I've tried to look for better opportunities on and off over the years, but always lacked the confidence in my ability to really make things happen. The cost of living issue over the past 1-2 years made me try harder than before, but felt like too little too late at the worst possible time (with all the lay offs happening across the industry this past year). I don't want to just get depressed and give up again. I want to keep trying and improve, even if the industry isn't doing very well at the moment.
In the past I struggled alone, maybe this time will be different with the people here.
Maybe a mentor, maybe struggling like me, maybe study together, maybe collab for something on github. I use a lot of Java for day to day work, over the past year got better at Python and Js, learned some Machine Learning and AI basics.
Doesn't have to be all study or work. I'm open to friendly chats about other stuff too, I have pretty nerdy interests if you couldn't tell lol.
That's it.
Happy Monday.
