Let’s play a game of Friendship Bingo!

The rules are simple. If you share any three of the following nine things about me that I’ve listed below, then you’ve successfully completed the friendship bingo. In that case, there’s a good chance we could have an epic friendship and you should definitely send me a message! [Please read the entire post before you reach out, though!]

A bit about me before you browse the bingo card - I’m Georgia, but will also answer to Gigi and Hime and I’m a 26-year old introvert from Australia. I know you’re really here to see what this bingo business is all about, so here you go:

BINGO ROW 1 - HOBBIES

• Reading. I love to read and also collect a lot of books, including special editions. My favourite genres are fantasy, romance, erotica and manga. My favourite book series is the Plated Prisoner series by Raven Kennedy. If this is on your bingo card, tell me which book world or setting you wish you could visit.
• Writing. Obviously I love reading fantasy and romance, but I love writing these things too and one day hope to be a published author. I’m currently 34,000 words into my current project, which is about an orphaned girl who has been trained as an assassin is sent on a mission to assassinate a human king, but after a series of twists and turns, is instead sent on an even more perilous quest to kill the high king of the fae. If this is on your bingo card, tell me what software you use to write (even if that’s pen and paper) and what genre/s you like to write.
• Video Games. I’ve only recently started getting back into playing video games. Lately I’ve been playing a lot of Stardew Valley and Chillquarium. I’m enjoying relaxing and cosy games at the moment. I also used to play a lot of Genshin Impact (American server) and Overwatch on my Nintendo Switch. Also do have a number of games on my Switch if you have one of those too. If this is on your bingo card, tell me the game you have the most hours on or the platforms you play games on (i.e. Nintendo Switch, PS5, PC etc.).

BINGO ROW 2 - INTERESTS:

• K-Pop. It’s basically all I listen to these days, aside from fantasy instrumental stuff while I write. My favourite artists are Stray Kids, Kingdom, Seventeen, Exo, Ateez and Oneus. I also like Twice and casually listen to a lot of other artists, as well as collecting albums and photocards. I’ve also started learning Korean. If this is on your bingo card, tell me your bias.
• Anime. My favourite genre is isekai and my favourite anime is The Rising of the Shield Hero. I’m currently watching My Hero Academia. I’ll pretty much give anything a go, unless it’s horror. If this is on your bingo card, tell me your favourite anime character.
• Animals. I have a degree in Zoology and Animal Science and have wanted to work in a zoo ever since I was a kid (it’s way harder than my younger self knew to get a job in the industry). In the meantime, I’m working at a pet store and running puppy school classes. I have fish and a dog, and my favourite animals are red pandas. If this is on your bingo card, tell me what animal you would be if you could turn into one for a day and why.

BINGO ROW 3 - UNIQUE:

• Sleep Calls. I know this is a weird one but hear me out. I have a fear of being alone in the dark. I’m fine when there are people around and I can tolerate it if I’m inside watching TV or doing something to distract me. But when my brother and mum aren’t home and I have to sleep, I really struggle. There’s also just something nice about sleep calls, in a purely platonic and non-creepy, non-weird way. If this is on your bingo card, I’ll be happy enough if you tell me it’s not weird and that I’m not the only one!
• Time Zone between GMT 8 and GMT 11. This one is pretty self-explanatory. While making friends is obviously what I want to do, it would be even better if some of these share similar time zones or are even locals. I’m Australian, living in Victoria and my current time zone is GMT 11 (AEDT). You get bonus points for this one if you live in the same state as me. If this is on your bingo card, tell me your time zone and what country you’re from.
• Food. Another one for the locals, but I love trying new food places. Especially things like fancy, unique and themed cocktail or dessert places. I recently visited two themed bars in Adelaide on holiday and there’s a really cool dessert place in South Melbourne that came up on my TikTok feed the other day. If you live in Melbourne and this is on your bingo card, tell me a place you’ve been really wanting to try out.

Of course, there’s always a catch. Here are some other things you should keep in mind:

• I am slow to reply. Between full time work five days a week, spending time doing my hobbies and housework in my free time and dates with my boyfriend, I won’t always be able to reply immediately. It is also incredibly overwhelming to reply to a lot of people at once. I will prioritise people who put effort into conversations and actually share some of my interests, as well as those in my timezone.
• I will not voice call people straight away. For me, a voice call is something I do with people I am comfortable with and that takes time. Be patient, and you’ll find that we will be voice calling pretty quickly if we hit things off on a good note.
• This is purely platonic. As I have mentioned, I have a boyfriend. I am not looking for anything other than genuine friendship. Yes, that involves a connection, but not a romantic one. If you’re looking for more than friends, look elsewhere.
• I will know if you haven’t read the whole post. A lot of effort goes into my posts that I submit here, because I expect to be able to have actual conversations with people that last. Not just a quick “hi hru” and “good thanks hru” type of conversation. Those are boring and do not set a solid foundation for a lasting friendship. • I would prefer to talk to other people in their 20s or early 30s. This is just what I’m comfortable with, as I'm in my mid-twenties myself.
• Discord is preferred after we get to know each other, but I will not switch there immediately. I don’t want my Discord inbox flooded with people who will potentially only talk to me for a day. The excess of notifications there is more overwhelming than on Reddit.
