Hoping to meet people who are up for texting or online chatting through the day/evening. Mostly looking for something light to past the time, but I'm also ok with serious discussion if that's where things go.

I'm a former journalist having worked as a radio reporter in northern British Columbia, and then in a large TV news station in Vancouver. I currently work in comms in the public sector, having made the switch from journalism.

I'm married with two kids, a boy and girl. Also have a dog Emma, who's a Chiweenie and absolutely lovely. I also have two budgies.

I'm really into history, learning about different cultures, travelling, and eating, and just generally curious about people and things - which is probably why I went into journalism. My other interests are camping - been watching a lot of YouTube videos about RVs and boats recently, daydreaming about one day owning one and heading off into the sunset with my dog. I'm also really into video games.

I'm also a big Star Wars and Star Trek fan, and into historical movies, but get annoyed when they take too much dramatic license. Recent shows I've been watching are Bob's Burgers, Archer, Big Mouth. Mindless, but smart, comedies. I used to read a lot, but seems like I just don't have the time anymore. It's something I keep telling myself I should do though.

Politically I lean pretty left, and I also tend to be sarcastic and cynical, but I think my cynicism is a defence mechanism so I don't get disappointed when my optimism is misplaced.

I'm also Chinese-Canadian and have studied and worked in China before. I speak passable Mandarin.

I know this is pretty generic message, and I'm not really good at introducing myself, but hopefully it's be interesting enough for someone to write back!

I've been lucky I've met one person who has become a pretty good friend so here's to hoping lightning strikes twice!
