Parenthood is isolating af. To boot, having just completed an online degree, I haven't made new friends in a long time. Many of my old friends have grown in ways that just seem... old.
Even though I'm a dad and squarely "grown", I'm fairly young at heart (thanks trauma!). Seems like all the adults I meet are into sports, financial shit, video games, or nostalgia that I just don't identify with. What do I identify with?
Music largely. Currently spinning: De La Soul (forever), Duckwrth, Choker, SWV, Solange, Cleo Sol, Larussel, Tems, Noname, Jungle, Little Simz, Mach-Hommy, Boldy James, Moodyman (forever), Kali Uchis... so many.
Psychology. Just graduated with my bachelor's and trying to decide on a Masters program. I have always dug Jung and his interest in the more niche aspects of the human psyche. Currently reading a book about Maslows lesser known studies.
The occult. Yep, I'm one of those, but real talk it's always been an intellectual curiosity, rather than a practice. Lately I've felt a need to be more spiritual, so I've been playing with Tarot and am awaiting a book on Chaos Magic to come in to my buddy's book store.
I'm also a dad, so I'm obviously interested in talking about that a little. I spend a lot of time with my two girls. I try to gently parent, but I WAS raised by a boomer, so...
I probably wrote too much and nobody will respond and I will have crafted (what I consider to be) a pretty good post just to maybe end up bailing on a convo with a bot, but whatever lol...
