I have had a pretty terrible year- I have lost three family members including a parent. Most my friends who are around my age have paired off with significant others and/or have kids. Being shy/introverted
means its hard for me to make friends as an adult so I guess I am asking Reddit.
I have had leftist politics (libertarian socialist /anarchist tendency) since I was a teenager- my first street protest was in the in lead up to the Iraq War in the fall of 2002. I even studies political thought at the graduate level until I washed out due to personal issues. Please no Right wingers and if you are “just asking questions” about trans people- I don’t want to hear from you.
Even before my terrible year, I have been managing a chronic illness for several years. I am also fat. So no ableism or fatphobia please. I am happy to talk about either, but am not as educated as I could be on either topic.
Like most people I like to talk about TV & movies. I grew up watching The Simpsons, Star Trek and Star Wars. I am a history nerd (I read popular and academic history mostly European 17th century through 20th century but also colonial history and listen to history podcasts) I like to cook and eat and always down to talk passionately about food. I own around 800 books and read all the time. Mostly SF and Fantasy, though I feel like my opinions are pretty basic (Tolkien and LeGuin are my favorite authors). I am always open for a book recommendation.
I am open to hearing from anyone 18 (but I have a strong preference for 25-42) who wants to chat. I am demisexual so promise I won’t be a creep, but if things go well and there is mutual trust I am open to being a little flirty.
