My power was out for a day and a half, and now itโs back. I have only lived in my house for a year, and this is the first house Iโve ever had that has a propane hot water tank. I live in-town so my water and sewer work during power outages, but it never occurred to me to even see if the hot water worked. Do propane hot water heaters work during power outages, or do they require some sort of electrical spark to function? Iโm kicking myself for never even trying the hot water to see, but I just completely forgot about it until afterwards.
