Ok before people start raging hear me out. We all saw that map which shows per capita income and inequality.
Western Maharashtra is all green and rest is yellow/red apart from Nagpur.
It is proven on multiple occasions that smaller states perform way better in terms overall development. So this got me thinking, what would happen if Maharashtra gets split into 3 smaller states.
- Western Maharashtra Khandesh
- Marathwada
- Vidarbha
What are the pros and cons of this arrangement?
As per me.
Pros:
1.Marathwada and Vidarbha will finally get its own budget to develop better.
- Overall delivery mechanism will be lot more efficient.
Cons:
- Division of Marathi speaking population
- Loss of unified representation in Lok Sabha
Not a great idea. Right not you have wealth redistribution occurring from Western MH to East.
And Mumbai-Thane-NaviMumbai is governed by the same shitty government entire MH is governed by.
If Fadnavis wins Western MH and becomes single largest party, and others get ncp, Congress or a coalition with regional parties and individuals, Marathwada and Vidarbha are fucked. Western MH will pull ahead faster than ever and the other two states will have to take on massive amounts of debt at higher rates to fund investments in infrastructure, IT, manufacturing zones and other stuff.
Mumbai and Pune must go to different states.
