Anyone ever use ir temp gun to check grain spawn jars?

So I’m using an infrared temp gun to check my grand spongers and surface says it’s at 80 but it also has a setting called body and that says it’s at 91° Just curious on peoples experiences with infrared guns and if they recommend them.
