Does Mafia 1 definitive edition feel like a modern game?

Ä° have seen so many gameplay videos yet i still cant figure out if the gameplay is enough for today. They done a really good job bout everything by the looks, thats for sure. But what about the gameplay? Does the combat feel good? Is car driving physics enough? Does open world feel alive? If the answers are positive, im willing to give this game a shot.
