5-7 Days hike in Madeira

hey i am Annelen, 18 years old and me and a friend are looking to go hiking for 5-7 days in October.
does anyone have a good route which isn’t to popular? Furthermore, does anyone have experience either the weather in october, i think we should be fine or is the weather really tough?
also, do you think we’ll get in trouble if we just bring a small tent for two persons and just sleep wherever we like?
