I'm a medical student and I just went to the hospital cafeteria to get a small coffee. I couldn't find a price so I asked the cashier who told me it was $2. It's not exactly an amount that will break the bank, but since I'm thousands of dollars in debt, I sacrifice where I can. I told her "Oh, bit much, thanks though," and started to walk away.
A doctor was getting a drink nearby and said she would pay for it.
I told her that it's alright but I appreciated the offer. I was starting to leave but she said, "No, really, I'll buy your coffee. I've been there before."
I thanked her, got my coffee, and thanked her again before leaving.
It's so simple and to an established doctor, $2 is pretty much nothing, but it not only made me smile, it made my day.
