How do I fix this lag while playing Madden?

I’m in a couple online CFM leagues. Been playing madden for years; rarely deal with a lag problem.
Now, it seems like 90% of the games I play deals with horrible lag. Usually starts at the end of the 1st/ beginning of 2nd quarter. I can barely make adjustments on defense. It’s just a terrible experience and makes playing not fun.
I pay for great internet. I constantly check my speeds and my download averages 700 mbps and upload is 40 mbps.
Is there anything I can do to try and fix this!?!?
