Do any of you keep inventory?

So I've gotten to the point where I am buying stuff again because I forget I have them... I run a small one man shop and sometimes I have surplus of materials or sometimes not have enough on hand or I'm buying another tap because I haven't used that one in the last few months and I forget I have them.

Since money is tight and I would rather not end up giving away 20 grand worth of redundant tooling when I retire, I want to keep inventory.

So, do any of you keep track of your tooling/materials/etc? What program do you use if any?
