Haas HSM?

I grew up in an okuma only shop. I am now in an all Haas shop. Even with proper G187 settings, CAM settings and HSM enabled on the control it seems so slow. Like if I'm feeding at 120 ipm with a back feed move at 400 ipm, it doesn't quite ever achieve the speed I expect. I realize how acceleration curves work and that it won't reach 400 more than likely over the 7 inch distance the cutter is feeding back, but I feel like I'm missing some secret sauce or something.
