Chevalier FM-3VS milling machine drawbar getting hot.

Hi all,
I have a Chevalier FM-3VS milling machine, a Bridgeport clone from Taiwan. The head seems to be making quiet the racket and the noise gets better and worse as I change the speed of the spindle. Either way I've noticed that recently that there the top of the draw bar gets quite warm to the touch.
Is this normal? I didn't think it was so figured I'd ask.
