Soo I just learned that there are different types of needles after mine just broke. I have one that is 75/11 and another that is 90/14. I learned that the 90/14 is for thicker fabric and the 75/11 for regular. Now my question: I made a design where two colours overlap. Should I use the 90/14 for that? I have already embroidered the design all with 75/11 and it worked fine but today the needle broke. But also the thread was caught on the spool holder so it might have happened because of that! I am just wondering if using the 90/14 for that part of my design would be better or if it makes no difference or if it is actually not advisable because I am embroidering on a regular tshirt.
I wouldn’t switch to the 90/14 for a tshirt. It’s more likely an issue with the density in your design that caused the needle break. (Edit- just saw the part about the thread getting stuck, that can cause the needle to bend which will cause a break also, that’s probably what it was)

Being a lightweight material you don’t want to be poking any larger holes than necessary in the shirt. So smaller needles are the better choice.
Is there a reason you have two colors overlapping in your design? The majority of the time you want to remove stitches that won’t be visible. If there’s too many dense layers it can cause a lot of issues in your sewout.
